German-owned bulk carrier Emil, sailing under a Liberian flag, was hit by multiple drones near Odesa, causing a fire and system failures; the crew was evacuated. Another vessel, the Guinea-Bissau-flagged Mera Queen, was also struck, with one crew member killed. In Kyiv, a warehouse belonging to German firm Liqui Moly and a logistics center used by Puma were damaged in Russian strikes.
Zelenskyy announced plans to accelerate Ukraine’s development of ballistic missiles and anti-ballistic systems, aiming for results by 2026–27. He cited challenges including procuring components and technological cooperation with partners. Meanwhile, U.S. intelligence reports warned that Russian President Vladimir Putin could test NATO’s resolve with a limited attack on a member state as early as this fall, according to the Wall Street Journal .
Ukraine’s Security Service detained a Russian agent in the Dnipropetrovsk region who was coordinating missile and drone attacks. In Sumy Oblast, a Russian drone struck a market, injuring 10 people, while another attack hit near a Save the Children office. The United Nations reported 1,396 civilian deaths and 7,978 injuries in Ukraine in the first six months of 2026, a 37% increase from the same period in 2025.
