Riga hosts the opening of Rail Baltica’s BIM for Rail Bootcamp 2026, bringing together more than 100 railway infrastructure professionals to advance digitalisation in the Baltic rail network. Participants will explore BIM applications in design, construction, and asset management, with a focus on interoperability standards and digital twins for high-speed rail corridors. “This bootcamp is about equipping the next generation of engineers with the tools to deliver Rail Baltica’s 870-kilometre network efficiently and sustainably,” said a Rail Baltica spokesperson .
The initiative follows the groundbreaking of Pro Kapital’s €23 million Blue Marine Residence in Riga’s Klīversala district on 24 June, a project that embeds a time capsule on 17 June to commemorate the city’s evolving urban landscape . While distinct from Rail Baltica’s digital focus, the residential development highlights Riga’s broader infrastructure and real estate momentum, with both projects signalling the city’s positioning as a hub for innovation and connectivity.
Rail Baltica’s BIM bootcamp also aligns with recent technical workshops hosted by RB Rail AS in Vilnius, where Rail Baltica experts engaged with Port Polska delegates to refine high-speed rail infrastructure standards . Bentley Systems, which announced a new office and major expansion in Vilnius on 26 June, further reinforces the Baltic states’ growing prominence in digital engineering for infrastructure .
As Rail Baltica progresses toward its 2030 operational target, the BIM bootcamp represents a critical step in standardising digital workflows across the project’s three member states—Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. With over 100 professionals convening in Riga, the event signals both the scale of ambition and the collaborative spirit driving the Baltic rail revolution.
