Latvia’s Ministry of Culture has reallocated flexibility funding from its program “Enhancing the role of culture and tourism in economic development, social inclusion and social innovation” to support the restoration of heritage sites, including the Great Guild Hall and the Arsenāls exhibition hall in Riga.
The funds will now be directed to the program “Restoration of unique European-scale cultural heritage to promote its accessibility by developing cultural services.” The reallocation aims to ensure operational readiness for both sites, covering the purchase of equipment, furniture, musical instruments, and the development of cultural services following construction completion. The decision requires approval from the European Commission, as the funding originates from an EU-administered program.
